When Broken Water Pipes Cause You Home Damage

Have you ever had to fix some broken water pipes only to find that you still have other damage from it? Most people that fix their own broken water pipes think that once the pipe is fixed, so is the damage. This is not necessarily so. This water has been laying on the surface under this pipe for as long as the leak has been there. You might have wiped it up over and over, but the water can seep into material like wood or drywall causing this damage to spread. So instead of just having to have the pipe fixed, you will have to remove the board under it as will and have it replaced if it has begun to rot or has mold on it.

This will most likely have to be done under any water pipe that has a leak in it. So this small leak could run into bigger problems that you will not be able to fix on your own. The main reason this happens so often is that most of you do not check your water lines until they break and by then the damage is already there. This can happen anyplace, even where you do not have a water line at. This water can travel down the line leaving water spots all the way until it comes to a place where it collects and sits. So your leak or break can be further down the pipe making it so that you have to remove more than you thought.

If you were to have this happen to you, stop. You will have to get a professional team to come in and check out this problem for you. They will come look over your problem and tell you how much this job might cost and then you should call your agent that handles your insurance and tell them the problem. They will come and look at it for themselves to make sure that the problem was made by water damage and you might find that your insurance will cover all of the costs.

As you all know everything made by man and of any amount of age is likely to start to fall apart. This is even true of metals, even though these take a little more time. This water flowing through them will over time make them corrode and break. So to keep your home safe do regular plumbing inspections on your pipes and always keep check on your roof, in the attic, and a basement or crawlspace for water issues as well.Aydan Corkern is a writer an you can visit his sites for more information: gault marketing and diaper cakes.
