Afghan officials say a suicide bomber struck a convoy of vehicles Friday near a U.S.-run NATO military base in Kabul, wounding six people.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing outside Camp Phoenix.

NATO said the wounded include civilian contractors, foreign soldiers and Afghan civilians.

There have been a number of attacks targeting international operations in the Afghan capital in recent months, including an attack on a United Nations guesthouse and the Indian embassy.

This year has been the deadliest for international troops in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban-led government in 2001.
